WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- These harsh wintry conditions can take a toll on your car.
Mechanics say it's important to take extra steps to maintain your vehicle during the winter months.
One of the most important things to do is bring your car in for a check-up.
Mechanics can check your tire pressure and tread.
You should also make sure your windshield wiper fluid is topped and that your wipers are in good condition.
"As Human beings, we're creatures of habit. Kind of put things off until it's too late and then all of a sudden, that first big snow hits and they're lined up out the door. You know, all of a sudden the tires that we suggested a month ago, now we need them right away. We need a battery because it didn't start today and my friend had to come over and jump it," said Bob Sterling with Russ Darrow Kia.
Bob adds that it's important to get your car washed at least once a week to help prevent rust and corrosion.
