Three High School Students Hospitalized After Arrowhead's First Major Cross Country Meet

HARTLAND - Three high school students have been taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion following an event at Arrowhead High School this evening. Tonight was the first major cross country meet of the season.

Over one thousand students from 25 different schools came together for the meet. Several students were treated at the meet with fluids. Rescue officials worked hard to get them cooled down. Three others were transported to the hospital but are expected to be okay.

The temperature was 84 degrees when the race started. The temperature combined with the humidity and lack of air movement is what caused the students to fall ill.
