MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- According to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, one in six children across our hometowns are facing food insecurity.
The nonprofit has teamed up with Three Harbors Council Scouting America to help fight the ongoing crisis.
"Scouting for Food" is a one-day food drive happening Saturday, March 21 in Milwaukee, and we got a preview of the event.
Non-perishable items were stacked as high as the ceiling for an event one volunteer says is all helping others.
"I love the Boy Scouts are involved learning about community service early, getting that food directly to the pantries from the porch onto that dinner plate as fast and efficient as possible," said Nick Bandoch, chief brand officer with Tri-City National Bank.
Last year, the Three Harbors Council Scouting America collected around 50,000 pounds of food for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.
