Thousands without power after severe storms roll through Wednesday night

Severe storms rolled through after southeast Wisconsin last night after midnight. Heavy rain fell and wind gusts were reported as high as 60 mph which caused plenty of damage across the area.

At one point over 20,000 We Energies customers were without power. As of 9:00 AM over 6,000 customers are still without power mostly in Milwaukee, Racine and Waukesha Counties.

We Energies reports that 16 power poles are down on Highway 45 in Racine County. They say that it will take nearly the entire day to finish the repairs.
