Thompson Farm brings first ever Strawberry Festival to pick-your-own strawberry season

BRISTOL, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Things just got a little sweeter and Thompson Farm in Bristol. It's already a favorite family destination for picking strawberries. This year, for the first time ever, they're also opening their adventure park for families to stay, play and pick. 

Kids can slide, bounce and swing all after eating their way through 20 acres of strawberry fields. 

With cooler temperatures arriving in SE Wisconsin, Scott Thompson says its perfect weather for peak strawberry season. 

"This cool weather is great because it lets the strawberry get a little bit bigger before it turns red, so it actually makes for a bigger crop," said Thompson. "These are called June Bearing Strawberries. The good part is they all come in June-- it’s just a big flush. The best part about them is the flavor. There’s so much juice in them. it’s nothing like you get in the store."

Pick-your-own strawberries are open daily from now until July 4, weather and supply permitting. The adventure park is open Thursdays-Sundays.
