MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Forward Latino and other community members gathered Tuesday, to make a statement on a recent Supreme Court decision.
A prior decision found that President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth violated federal law by using the National Guard and US military in Los Angeles to carry out immigration raids.
An injunction was placed on that practice, not allowing it to move forward. But on Monday, the Supreme Court removed that injunction, allowing for the continuation of immigration raid activity in the Los Angeles area.
"Make no mistake -- this is not solely a Latino issue, this is an American issue, it's a constitutional issue, and we all -- we, the people of the United States of America -- must respond," said Darryl Morin, national president of Forward Latino.
Despite the Supreme Court ruling only applying to the Los Angeles region, speakers Tuesday were adamant that the repercussions of this ruling could spread across the entire country.
