A blue 2000 Chevy Venture drove erratically at speeds in excess of 100 mph on northbound I-43 near Hwy 83 near the Town of Mukwonago on August 25 at 3:53 PM.
The vehicle entered the City of New Berlin and was observed by a New Berlin officer near Moorland Road.
The officer confirmed the hazardous driving and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to stop and continued northbound on I-43. As the pursuit continued the suspect lowered its speed to 55 mph however still wasn’t stopping. The vehicle finally stopped when several squads were behind it on I-43 at 124 Street. The driver and sole occupant was not following commands. Officers used high risk stop tactics. A language barrier hindered arrest efforts which were improved by the arrival of the police K-9 and a Spanish speaking officer. The suspect was eventually taken into custody without incident.
The suspect is a 27 year-old male. He is suspected of third offense driving while under the influence. No accidents occurred and no one was injured during the pursuit and arrest.
