'These are all my friends:' Thousands walk along Milwaukee lakefront to show support for those living with multiple sclerosis

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The typical blue of the Milwaukee lakefront on Sunday morning became a sea of orange, yellow, and green as thousands took to the Summerfest grounds to raise awareness for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The event, called Walk MS, aims to show support for the community and also raise money for a cure.
The autoimmune disease affects nearly three million people worldwide, and for several participants, there is definitely strength in numbers.
"I have MS, and these are all my friends!" said Chris Umnus, who was diagnosed a few years ago. "It is just a beautiful walk along the Milwaukee lakefront."
Participants could choose to walk either one mile or three.
Wearing orange meant those living with MS, green meant those who love or support someone with MS, and yellow meant those who support the MS society's mission.
"It's really been a struggle in the beginning, but I've found a lot of support at events like this," said Kayden Williams, 23, who was also recently diagnosed. "It's been really exciting to see that events like this can happen for people."
That's what also brought out 10-year-old Jacob Martin, who walked for his friend Deb.
"She likes giraffes," Martin said. "[Walking] means a lot!"
And when asked to give a message to those living with MS?
"Never look down on yourself, you got this, and keep doing what you like," Martin said.
