MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Organizers for the Milwaukee Air & Water Show gathered at Mitchell International Airport on Tuesday, May 23 to announce plans for this year's event.

The lakefront at Bradford Beach will be taken over by planes and boats July 22 and 23, 2023 for the 19th Milwaukee Air & Water Show.

"It's a chance for people to see how to airplanes fly, how does this work, aerobatics, how do people fly upside down," said Paul Rogers, the Air & Water Show's president.

The event will feature all types of equipment, from classic aircrafts to the beloved U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

"It's a great opportunity for mom, dad and the kids to come watch world class military and civilian performers at the Milwaukee lakefront at your Milwaukee County parks," Rogers said.

New this year, the show will include several notable female flyers.

"We have Captain Aimee Fiedler, the newest Air Force F16 Viper demo pilot," Rogers said.

Fiedler will be spreading her wings alongside Blue Angels pilot, Lt. Amanda Lee, and long-time air show flyer, Susan Dacy, who's making her Milwaukee debut.

"I will be flying my 1942 Boeing Steerman Biplane," Dacy said.

Dacy is a retired commercial airline pilot and has been performing in air shows for more than 30 years.

"I have to pinch myself some days, I get to do this now all the time in front of crowds, enjoy what I'm doing, and I can share all the experience and how to get started at all this with young people," Dacy said. "There's something for everybody."

The air show's goal is to bring aviation education to an eventual new generation of pilots.

"This is open and can be attained by anyone that's willing to have the ambition, the work, and the dedication," Dacy said.

The Milwaukee Air & Water Show is free to attend but there is seating that can be reserved for special viewing. Those tickets are already on sale.
