The Soup Market announces plans to close after 22 years in business

The Soup Market

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Soup Market announced plans Friday to shut their doors after 22 years in business.

In a post shared on social media, the market said they were issued an eviction notice at their Bay View production kitchen after refusing to pay rent until their HVAC system was fixed. The market said they haven't had air conditioning since last summer, and it's 95 degrees inside.

"Not safe to make soup in, and certainly not a place where customers want to eat in our dining room," the market wrote.

They say the business will be open for another week or so as they use up remaining inventory, adding that anyone struggling financially and in need of ingredients can email [email protected].

"I'd like one good thing to come from our misfortune," they wrote.

You can find The Soup Market at farmer's markets in Brookfield and at South Shore the next two weeks.
