The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas Goes Out With a Bang

Las Vegas is known for big celebrations, but this morning was an absolute blowout.

Crews imploded the shuttered Riviera Hotel and Casino.

The Riviera opened in 1955 as the Las Vegas Strip's first high-rise, drawing stars like Frank Sinatra, Liberace, and Elvis Presley.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority plans to use the site for a $2.3 billion dollar expansion to the city's convention center.
