MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Packing House is holding a fundraiser for the family of fallen Milwaukee Police Officer Matthew Rittner.
The restaurant is giving 10% of food sales for today to Matthew Rittner's family. The restaurant also held similar fundraisers for the other two officers killed in the line of duty, Charles Irvine Jr. and Michael Michalski. The assistant manager says holding these fundraisers is their way of giving back to the community.
"I believe it's because we are really entrenched in the community. The restaurant has been owned and run by the Wiken family. This is their 45th year in business and so we have many generations of families that come in here you know from great grandmothers to babies and most of us live and work in the community and I think we just feel very committed to giving back because how good everyone has been to us," says Joan Zellner, Assistant General Manager at The Packing House.
The Packing House serves food until 10:00 p.m. Friday.
