They say a blank canvas has unlimited possibilities and over the weekend, some artists in Sherman Park took that saying literally.
They painted a colorful community mural on a huge brick wall.
If you want to check it out, it's located at 47th and Center Street. The mural is called 'Sherman Park Rising.'
The organizing artists say that it's supposed to paint a positive image of the community and change the narrative to reflect the good change that is happening in Sherman Park.
"The mural is about transformation and unity. People coming together and working on issues they care about. It's about building for the future so there's imagery and symbolism in it that talk about new growth and the future," said Artist Tia Richardson.
Safe and Sound along with the Department of Neighborhood Services helped put the mural together.
