Milwaukee named the best city for creatives, report says
The Milwaukee Police Department is welcoming some of its future officers. A new recruit class was sworn in this morning.
The 56 recruits were sworn in at the Police Academy. They will undergo 6 months of training and are scheduled to graduate later this year.
For these recruits, today is their first day as police officers. The ceremony this morning was brief, about 15 minutes long. Chief Flynn welcomed them with short remarks.
He said this ceremony is much shorter than graduation because some of the recruits won't make it through.
"It's no mystery that our profession is facing extraordinary challenges right now," Chief Flynn said.
Of the 56 recruit officers, 43 are men and 13 are women.
