The Hop to revise M-Line schedule, addressing increased weekend demand

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Hop's M-Line in Milwaukee will undergo schedule changes aimed at better serving the riding public, particularly on weekends. These alterations will take effect starting Monday, Oct. 30.

The new schedule retains the M-Line's operational hours, which are 5 a.m. to midnight from Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The most significant adjustment involves introducing a third streetcar on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., decreasing the wait time from 20 minutes to 15 minutes during peak weekend hours.

Monday through Thursday will see reduced frequencies to 20 minutes after 8 p.m., previously beginning at 10 p.m. There are no changes to the Friday and Sunday schedules.

Milwaukee Commissioner of Public Works Jerrel Kruschke discussed the reason for the changes in a Thursday, Oct. 26 press release.

"We continue to see strong ridership numbers during peak hours, especially on weekends. This new schedule allows us to maintain all the service hours our riders count on, while providing more frequent service on Saturdays when the cars are busiest," Kruschke stated.
