The Cheese Capitol of the World Rings in 2016 With Huge Cheese Wedge

For the 9th year Plymouth, Sheboygan County lowered a huge chunk of cheese to ring in the new year.

It was actually a wooded crate made to look like classic cheddar.

They moved the cheese drop to 10 p.m. so that more families could participate.

Large crowds braved bitter cold Thursday to witness the event in person. 

The Plymouth Arts Center helped organize several events both before and after the cheese drop that was supervised by the Plymouth Fire Department.

A couple of bonfires were lit to help keep the huddled masses warm.

Families were invited inside the center to make pudgie pies and smores.”

Music and a toast at midnight were also offered.

In fact an appetizer table supplied by the Sartori Company, featuring its award winning cheeses. 

People were also encourage to bring a dessert or snack to share.

The event was free because of the sponsorship of the Sartori Company .

The first 250 families got a free bag of cheese valued at $15.
