FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Family friends of a teen nearly stabbed to death speak out and share how the teen is doing. The suspect wanted for the brutal attack is 21-year-old Christian Correa.

An arrest warrant was issued for Correra on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Franklin police are searching for the man, accused in a stabbing that happened Friday, Oct. 27.

The suspect, Correa, fled the scene on foot with the knife used in the stabbing.

Police say around 4 a.m. near 35th and Skamra, a 17-year-old victim was found with multiple stab wounds and taken to the hospital for treatment.

A criminal complaint states Correa's parents made the call to police after hearing screams and witnessing Correa holding a knife.

The complaint said the violence started after the teen victim attempted to break things off romantically with Correa.

Family friends of the teen said she's suffering from a fractured skull, stab wounds in her face and hands, and can barely open her swollen eyes. They said the teen has lost her entire immediate family in the last five years, calling her a fighter.

"We told her, you know, 'you're a fighter.' At one point she said she didn't want to fight anymore, and I said that's understandable," said Janet, who did not want to disclose her last name due to safety reasons.

Franklin police are looking for any information regarding Correa’s current whereabouts.

Correa does not own any vehicles. His cellular phone has been shut off since the incident. He is employed at McDonald’s on 13th and Ryan in Oak Creek but has not returned to work since the incident.

If you locate Correa, do not approach him; instead call police.

Police say Correa was recently released from Waupun Correctional Institute. He has a history of resisting arrest and has made statements that he will “shoot the police.”

In addition, police say he has known mental health issues.

Authorities describe Correa as a white male, standing 5'11" tall, weighing 165 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Correa's whereabouts is urged to contact police at 414-425-2522.
