Teachers, a Husband and Wife, Arrested for Sex with Students

PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (CBS NEWS) --A husband and wife who both teach at the same Alabama private school were arrested this week on "similar" charges of having sex with students,reports CBS affiliate WIAT.

James Parker, 32, was arrested Wednesday, by the Pickens County Sheriff's Department, jail records say. Parker's wife, Charli, was arrested Monday. The Pickens Academy teachers are both accused of having sex with students on multiple occasions.

AL.com reports that police say Charli Parker had sex at least 11 times with a male student between October 2014 and March 2016, in multiple locations, including at a cemetery in Reform, Ala. James Parker allegedly had a long-term sexual relationship with a female student.

District Attorney Chris McCool said the charges for the couple are "separate and unrelated in place and manner of commission."

"None of the criminal sexual activity occurred at the school," McCool said.

Brad White, Headmaster of Pickens Academy, said in a statement after Charli Parker's arrest that she "will be suspended immediately and further action may be taken upon investigation."

"Pickens Academy is very upset about the allegations against our employee," White said.
