MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The city of Milwaukee celebrated Tanzania Day Thursday afternoon, honoring the seventh anniversary of the sister city relationship between Milwaukee and Tarime District, Tanzania.
Tanzania is a country in East Africa, but on Thursday people were able to celebrate and experience its culture right here in the Cream City.
During the last seven years, city leaders say the partnership with Tanzania has been helpful for both sides.
"We benefit from each other economically, culturally, and exchange information so we can help each other out. It's about citizen diplomacy and helping each other out as countries, and Milwaukee has been on the forefront, partnering with these other countries so we can benefit from each other," said District 15 Alderman Russell Stamper II.
Students from different Milwaukee schools were there to enjoy the food, fun, music and a fashion show.
There was also an educational program and tour of City Hall.
