SUV Driver Cited after Head-On Collision with Semi

On March 5 at 6:15 AM Racine County Sheriff's responded to a head on collision between a semi truck and an SUV on the I-94 north bound on-ramp at State Highway 11. The caller reported the female SUV driver was unconscious and trapped in her vehicle.

The SUV driver was extricated and transported to Wheaton Franciscan All Saints in Racine with serious injuries. The semi truck driver initially refused medical treatment but was later seen by hospital staff for a minor injury.

A preliminary investigation revealed the SUV was driving on the I-94 northbound ramp when it crossed over the median striking the semi which was exiting the interstate on the I-94 northbound State Highway 11 off-ramp.The SUV driver had also been called in as a reckless driver by motorists prior to the crash.

The 36-year-old driver of the SUV from Milwaukee was cited for OWI, open alcohol in the vehicle, driving without a license, and possession of drug paraphernalia among other charges.
