RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 36-year-old Milwaukee man suspected of OWI was taken into custody after fleeing a crash in Racine.

Officials say just after 2 a.m. Friday, June 2, Racine County Sheriff's Office deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol troopers were called to I-94 southbound, near County Highway G, for a crash between a vehicle and semi-tractor trailer. Upon arrival, officials located a black Infiniti SUV and the semi along with a large amount of debris on the interstate.

An initial investigation shows the Infiniti rear ended the semi-tractor trailer and then the driver of the Infiniti -- identified by the Racine County Sheriff's Office as Terence Mack -- fled the scene on foot.

Officials searched the Infiniti and located numerous bags of marijuana.

Deputies used a thermal camera drone to locate Mack, who had hidden in tall grass on the southwest corner of County Highway G and 27th Street. Officials say Mack ignored lawful commands to surrender. Instead, officials say Mack turned his body away from deputies and reached his hand in the area of his waistband and pocket. Fearing for their safety, a deputy deployed her Taser and Mack was taken into custody.

Mack was transported to the Racine County Jail where he is being held on a $5,950 bail for the following charges:

  • Hit and Run
  • Operating while Intoxicated 1st Offense
  • Possession of THC as a Repeat Drug Offender (Felony)
  • Resisting/Obstructing
  • Resisting/Obstructing – submitted by the Sheriff’s Office
