MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sunday, Aug. 1 is the deadline for when Marquette University students must receive their vaccine against COVID-19.
University President Michael Lovell told CNN that 85% of students who will be attending classes in the fall are fully vaccinated. That is higher than what many experts consider to be herd immunity.
The other students were granted religious or medical exemption. That means they must undergo COVID-19 testing protocols.
"We're following the science and we're following the recommendations from the public health experts on the best ways to keep people on campus safe," Lovell said. "We are just following for what we believe is the best guidelines for running our university."
Marquette University also strongly advices everyone tow ear a mask when inside campus buildings beginning Monday.
