MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) - Students at Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy are celebrating Youth Violence Over Victory Week.
All week long, high school students will take part in peace walks, while listening to presentations and participating in workshops.
For senior Arjoi Burress, it’s useful information from mentors in their own community.
“I think finding a voice. knowing they're not alone,” said Burress. “I find it important.”
This year's topics were chosen by the students. They range from gun and gang violence to mental health, bullying and drug use.
“Being in this city, a lot of times as a youth, you feel like you're by yourself. This event right here, this ‘Youth Victory Over Violence Week’ gives you somebody to talk to, somebody to reach out to, somebody to ask for help,” said Nathaniel Alston, a senior at Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy.
