City of Milwaukee, police union reach tentative agreement
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Local students and first responders are helping families across the area this holiday season.
On Thursday, students from Messmer High School and members of the Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments met at Red Rock Saloon in Milwaukee to prepare 400 Thanksgiving meals.
The meals will be served on Saturday at Messmer Saint Rose School for those in need.
The group prepared peppers, onions and stuffing alongside a chef from the Wild Planet Hospitality Group.
All of the food, including 30 turkeys, was donated. Authorities said it was nice to give back to the community.
“We work here, we live here and it’s just something that’s important to us and it’s something that we enjoy,” Milwaukee Fire Dept. Community Relations Director Lt. Michael Ball said.
The students who participated are part of the school’s cooking club.
“It just gives me the satisfaction to know that I’m helping somebody and not just being selfish,” Messmer High School senior Lemietric Burns said.
The meals will be served to the public for free.
