MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of local students are getting in the holiday spirit.
They were out decorating Cathedral Square Park in Milwaukee on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Over eight days, more than 2,400 kids from area schools will help transform the park into "Community Spirit Park."
It's ahead of the 21st annual Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival, which starts next week.
Each tree being decorated by more than 90 schools and non-profits, represents a class theme or wish, shown through handmade ornaments.
"It's my class's first time down here, so it's very exciting, it's a great community project and we enjoy it a lot," said MPS teacher Christine Santos.
The Holiday Lights Festival kicks off next Thursday, Nov. 21 and runs through Jan. 1.
