MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Everett Marshburn, a longtime Milwaukee journalist and advocate who spent decades amplifying voices in the city's Black community, has died. He was 78.

Marshburn was best known for his work as a producer of Milwaukee PBS's "Black Nouveau," a program focused on issues, stories and people important to Milwaukee's Black community.

Throughout his career, Marshburn also advocated for the LGBTQ+ community and mentored generations of journalists.

His work earned him five Emmy Awards, and he was inducted into the Milwaukee Press Club's Media Hall of Fame.
