MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Students at St. Josaphat Parish School held an event Thursday, March 17, releasing balloons for peace in Ukraine.
Students gathered outside the school with blue and gold balloons and drawings of sunflowers, the national flower of Ukraine.
The Catholic school is named after St. Josaphat, who is from Ukraine and is the patron saint of the country.
"This is a very important part of the world for our school," said a speaker at the event. "St. Josaphat and all he did for the Catholic faith and the people of Ukraine so many years ago. We join our hearts and souls to him, asking for his intercession, to bring peace to all the world."
The students led each other in prayer for an end to the war and peace in the world.
