Students at St. John the Evangelist Planted a Teaching Garden

Staff and students at St. John the Evangelist partnered with the American Heart Association to build a "teaching garden" at the school.

Students are learning how fresh fruits and veggies are grown.

Studies have shown that children who learn that are more likely to choose those items as part of a healthy diet.

This is the third year the school planted a teaching garden.

But new this year they partnered with a local retirement community.

The residents of that community are going to help with the garden this summer when school is not in session.
