Streetcar celebrating March Madness with 'Hoops on The Hop' promotion

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's streetcar, The Hop, is ready to cheer on our local hoops teams through the new “Hoops on The Hop” promotion. Beginning Thursday, March 17 and continuing through the final game of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, anyone riding The Hop will be eligible to receive great discounts at The Wicked Hop, located at 345 N. Broadway, during any tournament game.

According to a news release, each of the five Hop vehicles -- along with the Historic Third Ward Westbound streetcar station near The Wicked Hop -- will be adorned with “Hoops on The Hop” graphics, including a special QR code to unlock this great offer.

Riders simply need to scan the code on board The Hop to access the coupon and then show their phone to their server or bartender at The Wicked Hop to receive $1 off all beer and wine and $2 off any appetizer while watching all the action inside the restaurant or outside on their patio.

“We’ve been thrilled to support Marquette during their fantastic season with a wrapped streetcar, and we look forward to continuing that excitement all tournament long through this ‘Hoops on The Hop’ initiative,” said Karen Dettmer, City of Milwaukee Commissioner of Public Works. “With games at Fiserv Forum this week, we’re proud to welcome basketball fans from across the region to Milwaukee, and we encourage everyone to hop on board and explore what makes our city, and The Hop, so special.”

In addition to the QR codes on board the vehicles, The Hop says the Historic Third Ward Westbound shelter will also include an oversize tournament bracket for fans and riders alike to follow the results all tournament long.

Marquette faces North Carolina in Fort Worth, Texas, in the First Round at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the University of Wisconsin plays Colgate in Milwaukee at Fiserv Forum at 8:50 p.m. on Friday.
