State lawmaker wants special session to tackle gun laws

MADISON -- A state lawmaker representing some of Milwaukee's most violent neighborhoods is calling on his colleagues to do something about it.

State Representative Mandela Barnes believes passing laws that help keep guns out of the hands of people who use them to commit crimes isn't something that should wait. Rep. Barnes will call on Governor Scott Walker to hold a special session to tackle gun laws in Wisconsin.

Rep. Barnes says it's shameful that the legislature has not done anything to affect gun violence in Milwaukee. He believes holding the special session will show that the legislature and Governor are serious about doing anything to change the issues of gun crime.

State Representative Evan Goyke says he stands behind Barnes 100%, but is also looking at other long term solutions.
