SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A stabbing suspect was shot by Sheboygan police on Friday, May 31.
It happened around 5:09 p.m. near 14th and Michigan.
According to the Sheboygan Police Department, they responded to a report of two men fighting at a residence. Upon arrival, police say they discovered that a 48-year-old man was stabbed by a 32-year-old man.
The 48-year-old man was transported to a local hospital and has been released.
Police say officers attempted to negotiate with the stabbing suspect, who remained armed with a knife and refused commands to come out of the apartment. After around two hours of negotiations, the suspect appeared outside the residence, armed with a knife, and charged at officers, according to police.
Police say after retreating and attempting less lethal means of incapacitating the suspect, an officer fired their handgun, striking and disabling the suspect.
No other injuries were reported.
The suspect was taken by Flight for Life to a Milwaukee area hospital and is expected to undergo surgery.
Police say the incident is being investigated by the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.
