MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- St. Marcus Lutheran School held a ribbon cutting Tuesday, Sept. 23 to celebrate the completion of a major renovation and expansion at its campus on 1st and Burleigh.
The facility previously served 383 students in grades K4 through 6. The expansion adds capacity for at least 200 more students, extending enrollment through 8th grade.
"You will also see as you go around, the 26 brand new classrooms for kids, six special education rooms, two ‘Project Lead the Way’ science labs, a music room and an art room,” Superintendent Henry Tyson said.
The $25 million project was funded through a campaign that concluded with the dedication. The renovated campus is named for Karl J. Schlueter, whose family donated $6 million toward the effort.
