MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – House Speaker Paul Ryan is passing the torch to Bryan Steil. The Republican is the new face of Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District.
Congressman elect Bryan Steil will serve Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District next year.
“I promise to take my problem solving skills and my Wisconsin style work ethic to congress to tirelessly work on your behalf,” Steil said in his election night speech.
Once a staffer for House Speaker Paul Ryan, Steil will now replace him. Steil launched his successful campaign after Ryan announced his retirement. The 37-year-old Janesville native says he will focus on what he calls pocketbook issues.
“How do we continue the economic growth that we've seen, how do we get more high wage jobs right here in Southeast Wisconsin, how do we lower the cost of healthcare?” Steil said. “The more we focus and get work done in Washington, on behalf of the American people, the better off we all are.”
A lawyer and UW-Regent, Steil thinks his background will help him get work done to better the lives of Wisconsin families.
“Working in manufacturing, working in education policy in the University Of Wisconsin Board Of Regents prepares me well to work across the board to try to solve the problems facing us here in Southeast Wisconsin,” Steil said.
