MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There was a special delivery from the Sheriff on Tuesday. Acting Milwaukee County Sheriff Richard Schmidt helped deliver Thanksgiving donations to families with children who have special needs and are enrolled in programs at the Milwaukee Center for Independence.
His office, working with the Deputy Sheriff's Association and others, assembled 30 complete Thanksgiving meals.
The meals include turkey, roasting pans, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, cornbread mix, lemonade, cookies, and pie.
The deputies said they wanted to make the holidays a little easier for families in need.
"This kind of takes the stress away and gets the holiday started. It's special to be a part of that," said Deputy Sheriff Kristine Camarillo with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Tuesday marked the start of the meal giveaway.
