MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Students at an elementary school in Milwaukee are a little more prepared for the school year thanks to a big donation.
The annual Sleepover for Education fundraiser last week provided the essential items.
They were dropped off Monday, Aug. 17, at LaFollette Elementary School on the city's northwest side.
Several local elected officials who sponsored the fundraiser were there.
LaFollette's principal says students will be able to pick up some supplies before the first day of in-person classes Sept. 1.
"This is just one way in which we are able to provide resources to students so that they are successful while they are at home learning virtually," said Principal Marny Donalson-Gamble.
Sleepover for Education has been fundraising for local schools for five years now.
Volunteers stay up all night to help raise money and encourage school supply donations.
