MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Because of a surge of COVID cases on Milwaukee's south side, the Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers have created two shelters for COVID testing and follow-up care through the winter.
One shelter will function as a drive-thru tent for COVID testing and flu vaccinations.
The other is a Safe Care Tent for follow-up care and urgent care services.
"The numbers are still extremely high on the south side, but I'm confident because that's what Sixteenth Street does," said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
This project was made possible with funding from the Routes to Recovery program through the Milwaukee Health Department.
