MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A pair of siblings received national honors Friday for their acts of bravery.
The American Red Cross awarded Joseph and Maggie Henderson with two certificates for their actions to help save a life.
The life saved was William Henderson, their dad, who had come to visit the pair at the Baptist College of Ministry in Menomonee Falls.
He fell ill, collapsed and suddenly fell into cardiac arrest.
Maggie immediately went to call for help while Joseph performed CPR until the ambulance arrived.
Joseph went through Red Cross training over five years ago - a skill he never expected would end up saving his father's life.
"We did the whole CPR training and everything and I didn't know why I was doing it at the time, but I never thought I would use it on my dad," said Henderson. "Honestly, without that training, the outcome would have been much different for sure."
Grant Hodgins, Joseph's CPR trainer, also received the American Red Cross Lifesaving Instructor Award.
