MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Lake Michigan is a treasure for so many of us, on the water and below it. One local scuba diving charter boat company takes advantage of this time of the year to look for shipwrecks on the bottom of the Great Lakes. "Shipwreck Explorers" is out of Milwaukee but travels to Lakes Huron and Superior during the summer. CBS58's Michael Schlesinger spent a little time on the "Molly V" Wednesday morning to learn more about what these trips entail. In case you didn't know, our big lake in particular is made of freshwater and acts like a refrigerator for these fateful ships, many still preserved and intact.

Captain Jitka Hanakova herself has located three shipwrecks over the last two decades and wants to find more. She says there could be thousands of shipwrecks on the bottom of the Great Lakes still undiscovered. It's important to mention all the divers need to be certified for the expeditions. Just click here to learn about "Shipwreck Explorers" and its offered dive trips.
