Sheriffs respond to multiple accidents due to icy roads

normal\" class=\"MsoNormal\">With the ice and rain mix on Friday, Milwaukee County Sheriffs say they have been responding to weather related crashes since about noon.

normal\" class=\"MsoNormal\">They say, they have responded to calls on 15 crashes and about 20 disabled vehicles, including one that involved a police squad car.

normal\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Police closed I-43NB near Michigan Street after a vehicle slid into a squad car on the off ramp.  The officer involved in that accident was transferred to a local hospital for minor injuries. The squad car sustained moderate damage. The say the accident is still under investigation but believe it was ice related.

normal\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Around 7:30pm that same ramp was closed for a while today as sheriffs responded to a total of 3 other crashes, which happened in about a 4-minute time span.

normal\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Police say most of the crashes were due to ice on ramps, bridges and overpasses near the Marquette, Hale and Mitchell interchanges, which caused those ramps to be closed for periods of time.

normal\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Sheriffs say there is no indication of many injury crashes, only property damage. They also warned that people should be especially careful and drive slowly due to the icy roadways.
