WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office has identified the 81-year-old man who died Thursday afternoon on Wallace Lake as Merlin Waechter from the Town of Trenton.
The Sheriff's Office says Waechter was operating a weed-cutting machine when it capsized near shore.
Authorities say his death is still under investigation.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An 81-year-old man died Thursday afternoon after the weed cutting machine he was operating capsized on Wallace Lake.
The Sheriff's Office was called out to the 7100 block of S. Wallace Lake Drive in the Town of Trenton around 12:20 p.m.
The first arriving deputy located the machine capsized approximately 47 yards off the shore.
Rescue crews and the Dive Team responded and were able to free the man shortly before 2 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Medical Examiner.
The investigation remains ongoing.
