Sheboygan River beginning to recede

SHEBOYGAN, WI (CBS 58) --Conditions are beginning to improve in Sheboygan as the flood waters begin to recede.   According to the Sheboygan Police Department, the ice that has blocked the Sheboygan River remains in place, but the water levels behind the ice dam have dropped.

The roadways surrounding S Taylor Drive and Indiana Avenue. are open and University Drive is open. The traffic barricades for Indiana Avenue  just east of Taylor Drive will remain in place in the event of future changes in water levels.   New Jersey Avenue remains closed between S 17th Street and Wildwood Avenue.

There is no access to the City of Sheboygan Drop Off Site and access to the Blue Line Ice Arena is still blocked by standing water.

According to the Police, the fundraising event scheduled for Saturday, March 16 has been cancelled.
