Sheboygan Man Arrested After Speeding with Infant in Car

On Thursday, October 8, a Sheboygan Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Calumet Drive in the 3000 block. The officer activated his lights and siren but moments later canceled his attempts to stop the vehicle after he observed the vehicle traveling an estimated 80-100 mph south bound on N 25th St, for fear that a pursuit may endanger the safety of the occupants of the vehicle or the citizens in the neighborhood.

On Friday Sheboygan Police received a tip from a citizen identifying the suspect as a 20-year-old Sheboygan man. The investigation by police found that a 20-year-old female and a 7-week-old infant were also passengers in the car at the time of the incident.

The suspect was referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney's Office on Felony charges of Reckless Endangering Safety and Knowingly Flee an Officer.

The Sheboygan Police Department continually weighs the safety of the community when making decisions on whether or not to pursue a vehicle or offender.

The decisions made in this case resulted in the arrest of the suspect with no injuries to the occupants of the vehicle or other members of the community.
