SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Three people are being treated for severe burns following a gas explosion in a Sheboygan food truck Monday, Aug. 21.
Firefighters arrived at the scene near 3rd and Vollrath Boulevard around 5:51 p.m.
They found the fire inside "Pork in the Road" food truck had been extinguished, with three people seriously injured. It was during the city's summer food truck gathering outside Vollrath Park.
The fire department says patients were treated at the scene and rapidly taken to an area hospital. They say the fire appears to have been a flash fire, which is likely caused by flammable gas used for cooking.
In a press release Monday evening, the Sheboygan Fire Department said they'd "like to remind people, when using a flammable gas for cooking, to ensure all safety precautions are in place."
Area food truck operators and restaurants are planning a GoFundMe to help those impacted by the fire.
