SHARP Literacy launches virtual education programs

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- SHARP Literacy has announced a full schedule of STEAM-integrated educational programs and hands-on learning experiences virtually to SHARP students in response to limited in-person learning during the 2020/2021 school year.

The programs began Monday, Oct. 19 for thousands of urban elementary students in 25 schools throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Racine. The lessons are designed to help bridge the learning gap students have experienced over the past seven months, according to a news release.

"With in-person learning on hold, our talented education team worked tirelessly to transform SHARP’s STEAM-based curriculum into a 100% virtual program, which includes the coordination and assembly of thousands of lesson-related activity kits for students in 35 urban schools," Lynda Kohler, president and CEO of SHARP Literacy said. "With Covid-related learning regression in the forefront of our minds, the continuation of our program is critical. We are steadfast in our belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, no matter the circumstances.”
