CEDARBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) – Storms and high winds Sunday took down trees in across Wisconsin, including Cedarburg and Mequon.
Cedarburg Police said DPW crews had to clean up at least 17 down trees after Sunday’s storm. In downtown Cedarburg trees uprooted right in front of City Hall and a local business. There is no apparent damage.
"Down branches, and a lot of debris lying around,” a Cedarburg resident said. “It wasn't until we drove through downtown that we came through this crazy uprooted tree so this is the biggest thing we’ve seen."
Cedarburg crews were busy throughout Sunday afternoon into the early evening. Police said the down trees caused for some down lines and lane blockage. Police said while crews picked up the dangerous trees in the roadways, Monday morning commuters should look out for smaller branches.
Storms caused several trees to go down in Mequon Sunday afternoon. Resident George Eisen was watching TV until he heard a boom.
“I heard a loud noise happen and I didn't know what was happening and my gosh look at this tree across my driveway,” Eisen said.
He’s thankful no one was hurt Sunday.
“Thank god there was no car in the driveway, no truck in the driveway and no people in the driveway,” Eisen said. “We could have got hurt.”
