MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Veterans will be flown to Washington D.C. to visit their monuments and war memorials.
Sendik's of Mequon owners presented a $150,000 check to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight on Monday, Sept. 13.
Two Vietnam veterans and Honor Flight representatives were there to accept the check, and speak on the importance of the program for all veterans.
Vietnam veteran Randy Zemel was on the Honor Flight in 2019 and recounted his trip to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
"For me, I got to visit my buddy on the wall, and we talked, (it) was so emotional, and Stars and Stripes Honor Flight is so special," Zemel said. "I encourage everybody to go. You'll come home changed and improved."
This is the sixth annual donation from Sendik's and brings the six-year total to more than a million dollars.
