MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Democrats continue to criticize an ongoing effort by republicans to try to review the 2020 presidential election process in Wisconsin.
Senator Tammy Baldwin told CBS 58 she believes the investigation is a charade on Wednesday, Sept. 22.
Former State Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman is helping lead that effort put on by republicans and said he may subpoena information from election officials.
Baldwin says efforts should be focusing on making it easier for people to vote, and that includes the Freedom To Vote act is she is promoting in the senate.
"Right now are watching our taxpayers being fleeced for an audit of the 2020 election that's literally a charade, it's basically making taxpayers foot the bill for promoting Trump's Big Lie," Sen. Baldwin said.
Gableman said in a video this week that his goal is to restore confidence in the election process, not to overturn election results.
