Semi driver killed after running stop sign in Fond du Lac County

FOND DU LAC COUNTY (CBS 58) -- A fatal two-vehicle crash is currently under investigation in Fond du Lac County.

The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Monday on WIS 175 SB at Highway F near Eden.

The semi was driven by a 62-year-old man from Salinas California. According to Wisconsin State Patrol, he was traveling eastbound on Highway F when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 175.

The semi was struck by a 2006 Ford Five Hundred being driven by a 24-year-old man from Fond du Lac. 

After impact, the semi unit rolled onto its side.

Both drivers were transported to St. Agnes Hospital where the semi driver later died.

There is currently no word on the condition of the driver of the Ford Five Hundred.

Wisconsin State Patrol Fond du Lac continues to investigate the crash.
