MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – As the trial for the man charged in the fatal shooting of Milwaukee Police Department Officer Kendall Corder is underway, the Milwaukee Police Association’s (MPA) president says they’re honoring fallen officers at American Family Field.

MPA President Alexander Ayala says four seats behind home plate at the ballpark, paid for by the police union through their season tickets, are decorated to honor the families of fallen officers and members of the force.

Ayala says he made the design for the seats that have been dedicated this way for four years.

“About four years ago, when we had an officer die in the line of duty, we decided at the MPA that we wanted to honor their memory by having something with the Brewers because at the time, the Brewers helped us with a repast of the officer that had passed away,” Ayala said. “I think it comes from the heart, and it keeps us united, and it keeps us together in a time of need.”

Ayala says families of fallen officers get to sit in the seats in the games of their choosing. Any remaining games are distributed to members of the force.

In an emailed statement from the Milwaukee Brewers, a spokesperson told CBS 58 that MPA wanted to denote the special seats and through their season seat contract, they were able to help find a way to do so.
