MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Teachers from around the Milwaukee area had gotten a free night out at the first-ever Teacher Fest at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The center welcomed educators for free food and drinks, as well as a chance to get up close and personal with birds of prey and reptiles.
Schlitz leaders say they see more than 20,000 students a year come for nature education, and they are ready to welcome more.
"We just wanted to make sure that our teachers knew of the wide variety and diverse offerings of programs from kindergarten through high school and we thought, well, let's bring them all together and while we're at it, let's say thank you," said Helen Boomsma, executive director with Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.
Schlitz leaders say the support and partnership they have with area teachers is meaningful, and they wanted to give back.
